JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, oversees maintenance, mileage, and maintenance schedule for each vehicle within assigned area until vehicle is transferred or retired from the area fleet. Inspects all new vehicles to ensure each meets specifications before allocating to user.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules maintenance performed on vehicles and equipment. Collects data to enter into the SAP fleet system data collection files. Retrieves specific vehicle data as needed. Maintains historical data on vehicles. Audits vehicle inventory.
- Coordinates the installation and monitoring of district license plates for new vehicles. Documents and requests replacements for lost license plates. Prepares vehicles for auction. Oversees the assignment of vehicles in and out of shop pools.
- Maintains vehicle records and keys for new vehicles. Schedules recalls into and out of the local dealerships. Develops reports to track vehicle recalls in SAP system. Creates work orders as needed in SAP and utilizes SAP master data for fleet use.
- Checks and verifies all new vehicles and equipment, ensures units meet specifications and are dispensed to the correct departments. Collects vehicles from user departments and reassigns.
- Maintains car wash area and decal stocks.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED
WORK EXPERIENCE
6 months to 1 year
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
SAP, Microsoft Office
Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier), Hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, screwdriver), Power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pheunomatic hammer), Vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift)
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT
Work and tasks are often straightforward, routine, structured and guided by established policies and procedures. Little, if any, independent judgment is required, outside of making basic choices in the selection and application of established methods. The job receives frequent, ongoing supervision.
BUDGET AUTHORITY
No budget development activity is required.

Decisions are made on routine matters affecting few individuals and usually within the confines of the job's own department. Specific job activities and results are typically reviewed closely. There are limited requirements for developing new ideas or changes in methods, procedures or services.
IMPACT OF DECISIONS
Follows rules and procedures. Decisions can have minimal or no impact to HISD. Errors can be readily detected, usually by the employee, and, if made, would result in minor expense for correction.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS
Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Ability to carry and/or lift 45 pounds or more.
