POSITION SUMMARY
The Campus Athletic Coordinator will serve in a support role in the execution of various athletic-specific plans and procedures including, but not limited to program compliance targets, data compilation; social media/website information; district-sponsored tournaments; district championship events; postseason (Bi-District, Area, Regional, etc.) events; professional development sessions; TEA/UIL/HISD compliance; and facility reservations and oversight.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
• Follows the Athletic Department chain of command beginning with the Assistant Athletic Director in charge of the sport.
• Responsible for the collection and analysis of data related to athletic participation and results with a focus on district-wide improvement of athletic performance. Responsible for the completion of all UIL-required participation reports.
• Assist the district webmaster and assistant athletic director secretary in charge of special projects to maintain and constantly improve the HISD athletic website.
• Work with the central athletic staff, HISD communications department, and the campuses to maximize the effectiveness of all social media platforms related to district and campus athletic programs.
• Coordinate all district-sponsored tournaments and meets.
• Assist the district athletic director with the formation and formatting of district athletic schedules.
• Coordinate and lead the process of collecting and analyzing athletic academic performance data.
• Assist with the preparation and organization of all district athletic staff development meetings and events. Work with the curriculum department and coaching staff to ensure that all coaches attend required staff development courses, and that the curriculum department is aware of all HISD coaching responsibilities that might conflict with assigned staff development.
• Work with campus athletic staff to coordinate and monitor all UIL and Aktivate requirements and training including PAPF’s, HISD compliance checks, and coaches’ certifications.
• Collaborate with campus administration (fall, winter, and spring) providing seasonal and annual athletic summaries (by sport) and calendars for each sport.
• Comply with NES Game Management Event Paperwork including providing workers sign-in and accountability documentation.
• Assist the assistant athletic director with the ordering and organization of all awards related to athletic participation (trophies, plaques, medals, ribbons).
• Coordinate the organization and preparation for the hosting of all HISD regular season/playoff events and district athletic meetings.
• Assist the assistant athletic directors and finance coordinator with all purchasing processes.
• Assist with the revision and yearly update of the HISD athletic handbook.
• Coordinate the compilation and recognition of all championship teams and programs at the HS/MS levels.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES CONTINUED
• Provide quality customer service to employees, departments, and guests of the athletics and aquatics departments for the benefit of our student-athletes.
• Provide clerical support regarding officials and athletic game pay.
• Assist the assistant athletic directors with all campus facility reservations.
• Provide a safety-first campus for all campus athletic programs this includes first aid, CPR, AED, concussion training as required by the UIL. In addition, provide your campus safety emergency plan for all site-based programs and submit to the HISD Head athletic trainer along with your monthly practice logs.
• Attend and supervise athletic events as assigned. Including written documentation and monitoring responsibilities for safety protocols at all campus and stadium events.
• Ensure that all student athlete injuries are documented and reported to the Stadium Trainer in a timely manner.
• Be accountable to meet and/or exceed all District Athletics Participation Target Numbers for their campus.
• Implement and monitor an academic plan of checks and balances for athletic program participants to ensure academic success on your campus. This includes a 4-year plan with data and video accessibility for post-graduation opportunities.
• Monitor and maintain all campus athletic facilities at competition level at all times. Complete and monitor all athletic facilities work-orders in a timely manner.
• Provide input on office and program policies and procedures.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
• Serve as district liaison with all official chapters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in coaching preferred.

• Valid Texas teacher’s certificate
• Strong computer and technology skills including the use of databases and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
• Certified Athletic Administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators
Association (NIAAA).
• Personal computer and peripherals, calculator, copier, shredder, and fax machine
• Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/ stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive
hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of a mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light
lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Occasional district-wide travel. Work with frequent
interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
