POSITION SUMMARY
As a New Education System (NES) Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher, you will be part of HISD’s transformation to provide high-quality, career-focused instruction that prepares students for success in the workforce and beyond. Student-Centered Instruction & Learning
• Develop and implement high-quality, standards-aligned lesson plans that engage and challenge students while meeting career and technical education (CTE) program goals.
• Foster an inclusive, dynamic classroom environment that cultivates students' skills, interests, and career aspirations.
• Personalize instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, ensuring equity and access to high-quality learning experiences.
High-Performance Teaching & Continuous Improvement
• Prepare rigorous, hands-on lessons that incorporate real-world applications, industry certifications, and technical skills.
• Establish clear learning objectives that align with CTE pathways and workforce readiness standards.
• Utilize data-driven assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to maximize learning outcomes.
• Continuously improve instructional practices through professional development, coaching, and collaboration with colleagues.
Classroom & Student Engagement
• Set and maintain high expectations for student achievement and behavior in alignment with HISD’s positive school culture.
• Integrate project-based learning, industry partnerships, and real-world experiences into instruction.
• Guide students in career exploration, employability skills, and professional conduct, preparing them for post-secondary success.

Collaboration & Communication
• Maintain open, professional communication with students, parents, colleagues, and industry partners to support student success.
• Work closely with campus and district leaders to ensure that CTE programs align with workforce needs and student interests.
• Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and training to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Compliance & Student Safety
• Follow HISD policies, state regulations, and CTE program requirements to ensure compliance with curriculum standards and safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance, industry certifications, and program documentation.
• Supervise students in hands-on learning environments, ensuring safety, professionalism, and responsibility.

• Participate in ongoing professional learning to stay current with industry trends, instructional strategies, and technology advancements.
• Support the broader mission of HISD’s New Education System by embracing innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.

▪ Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
▪ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
▪ Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard.
▪ Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, bend, climb, and/or be mobile.
▪ Ability to travel throughout the district and city by means of private or public transportation. If driving personal (or private) vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
