JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Production provides strategic leadership for the planning, development, and publishing of high-quality curriculum materials across all grade levels and content areas. This role oversees a team consisting of a production manager and multiple coordinators, ensuring that all instructional resources are delivered on time, accessible to educators. and aligned to district priorities. The Director leads innovative efforts to integrate multimedia for professional learning. streamline content delivery systems. and explore the use of Al to enhance both teacher and student experiences. This leader ensures operational excellence. drives cross-department collaboration. and maintains a focus on equity. innovation, and instructional impact.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Team Leadership & Management: Supervise the Curriculum Production Manager and a team of Coordinators. Set vision, establish goals, and provide coaching to ensure a high-performing, collaborative team.
2. Strategic Oversight: Lead long-term planning for curriculum production cycles, resource delivery strategies, and system improvements to support district instructio11al initiatives.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
3. Systems for Access: Design and oversee processes that ensure all teachers have timely, user-friendly access to curriculum materials in both print a11d digital formats.
4. Al & Emerging Tools: Collaborate with technology and academic teams to explore and implement artificial intelligence tools and other emerging technologies that enhance student access, personalize learning, and improve curriculum interactivity.
5. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years working as a project manager or technology specialist in a district/central office of a large urban school district or corporation.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Management. Manages a department or multiple major disciplines, often through subordinate management. Regularly manages staff in the completion of large-scale projects or a very closely related set of projects/initiatives often spanning multiple disciplines. Receives strategies and broad departmental objectives from senior leadership; establishes operational objectives and work plans; delegates assignments to subordinate management and staff. Allocates resources according to priorities and serves as the primary decision maker regarding hiring, performance, and budget.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT
Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

Decisions are made with greater freedom and discretion, including recommendations that are subject to approval on matters that may affect multiple departments across HISD. Job is frequently expected to recommend new solutions to problems, to improve existing methods/procedures/services and generate new ideas. May also review decisions made by other individuals on more routine matters.

Decisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Negotiate and influence - interpret department strategies and services, resolve conflicts, influences outcomes on matters of significance for the division, conduct final negotiations and coordinates approvals/decision making below the executive level. Interactions are typically with customers and Top Management.

Anticipates customer needs, identifies, and champions opportunities for the development and implementation of new services and methods to meet or exceed customer needs. Establishes customer service standards and feedback mechanisms across departments.
