JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator I MSAP is a grant-funded position responsible for leading the development and implementation of STEM and STEM+M thematic curriculum within the magnet school. This role supports the creation of elective pathways aligned with the campus's focus, provides professional development for instructional staff, and ensures that all students benefit from rigorous, theme-based instructional programs.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Design and implement thematic STEM and STEM+M curriculum units that align with the school's magnet focus and academic goals.
2.    Establish elective pathways that enhance STEM and STEM+M learning opportunities, ensuring alignment with industry trends and student interests.
3.    Provide theme-based curriculum training and instructional support to campus-wide staff to strengthen STEM-focused teaching strategies.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

4.    Assist in reducing minority group isolation (MG!) and ensuring all students meet high academic standards while gaining valuable STEM-specific skills.
5.    Monitor and assess the effectiveness of magnet program initiatives, ensuring alignment with project objectives and continuous improvement.
6.    Develop resources and strategies to enhance the school's long-term ability to provide rigorous, theme-based STEM instruction while fostering choice and diversity in the program.
7.    Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

3 to 5 years

At least 5 years working in a district/central office in a large urban school district, with experience in team leadership and project management.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

No budget development activity is required.

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS

Leads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems. Monitors customer service standards.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
