JOB SUMMARY

The FACE (Family and Community Engagement) Coordinator 1 plays a vital role in advancing HISD’s mission to build effective school-family partnerships that enhance student outcomes. The Coordinator 1 position involves coordinating FACE initiatives and tasks, facilitating communications, and providing assistance to campuses, district leadership, families and stakeholders. The Coordinator 1 position bridges families, campuses, and central office by helping resolve family concerns, coordinating parent events, supporting family communications, and driving data-informed engagement efforts.
 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Assist with all activities of the FACE senior leadership team, including strategic planning, managing project timelines, supporting communication efforts, and executing follow-ups from team and district-wide meetings.
2.    Respond to inquiries from families, campuses, and community partners regarding FACE services policies, procedures, and services, such as family engagement programming, conflict resolution processes, and parent organization operations.
3.    Draft and disseminate communications from the FACE department and leadership team, including responses to stakeholder requests, but not limited to, the Board of Education, employee associations, employees, partner organizations, funders, media, other public information requesters and promotion of department events and initiatives.
4.    Engage regularly with HISD families, school-based staff, principals and HISD leadership via campus visits, listening sessions, and follow-ups to collect and report data on family needs, satisfaction, and feedback trends to engage customers, clients, and end users.
5.    Plan and Assist in the coordination of departmental projects, including monitoring timelines, assigning tasks, following up on deliverables and school support

6.    Support parent leadership initiatives by helping establish FACE Committees/Parent Advisory Groups across all departments and monitoring compliance of PTO/PTA organizations with district guidelines.
7.    Supports project management and progress monitoring activities, implementing FACE initiatives, district and procedures for project management and progress monitoring.
8.    Plan, Create and organize logistics for FACE-hosted events and trainings (e.g., volunteer workshops, community meetings, partner summits), including scheduling, materials, and technical support.
9.    Maintain databases and documentation, including records of parent engagement activities, call resolutions, family trends, and compliance reports across campuses with confidentiality and data integrity.
10    Perform general office duties, such as ordering supplies, managing inventory, and maintaining office equipment.
11.    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of the work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
 

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

Compiles and organizes data and figures.

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

Collaborate and solve problems – works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

Leads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems.
Monitors customer service standards.
 

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.

Ability to carry and/or lift less than 45 pounds.
