JOB SUMMARY

Manages the development, implementation, support, and maintenance of the district’s Gifted and Talented programs. Manages the identification of gifted and talented resources and training. Collaborates with Gifted/Talented managers, principals, and other administrators regarding Gifted/Talented services in schools on student placement and evaluation. Monitors data collection of district-wide Gifted/Talented identified students. Reviews, updates, and revises program guidelines and training modules to align with local, state, and federal mandates for Gifted/Talented coordinators, teachers, and administrators. 
Provides day-to-day supervision for program managers and district leaders in the design and development of Gifted and Talented program.  Also, oversees the implementation of Gifted Education Plans to ensure they reflect learning needs of all gifted learners and meet state and local requirements. Develops teacher training and assesses educational programs for quality and adherence to state regulations and standards.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with Gifted/Talented coordinators, principals, and other administrators regarding Gifted/Talented services in schools on student placement and evaluation.
  • Monitors data collection of district-wide Gifted/Talented identified students.
  • Reviews, updates, and revises program guidelines and training modules to align with local, state, and federal mandates for Gifted/Talented coordinators and administrators.
  • Coordinates district-wide specialized staff training for Gifted/Talented coordinators, support staff, administrators, and parents, focused on aspects of the Gifted/Talented programs.
  • Provides expertise to administrators and school-based staff assigned to implement Gifted/Talented programs.
  • Leads the ongoing, district-wide process to collect, review, and submit required compliance documentation to a variety of departments.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

  • Reviews student enrollment and assists administrators in the development, enhancement, or overall implementation of programs for the targeted populations.
  • Assists with conducting program needs analysis and serves as program specialist to collaborate with other departments on developing procedures and practices to service Gifted/Talented students.
  • Collaborates with the Gifted and Talented team to implement a district-wide continuum of instructional services and increase services in general education for students in Gifted/Talented.
  • Supports best instructional practices to advance student achievement
  • Provides support for the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment documents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

5-7 years of teaching experience.

SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION

Teacher Certification required.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading. 

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

Compiles and organizes data and figures.

Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems. Monitors customer service standards. 

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Ability to carry and/or lift less than 45 pounds.
