JOB SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for supporting campus leaders in curriculum use through
training, professional development, and job-embedded support to improve teacher
performance and student outcomes. This position collaborates with campus leadership,
the district professional development office and other academics teams to support the
instructional vision.  
 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide curriculum training and support to campus leadership and teachers to support successful implementation of materials.   
  • Observe classroom instruction throughout the year and provide customized curriculum training aligned to district instructional vision and best practices for curriculum implementation. 
  • Analyze campus level student performance data on curriculum-embedded assessments to identify and respond to trends to improve curriculum training offerings. 
  • Use assessment data to create and facilitate campus-wide and/or multi-campus professional development. 
  • Support the investment of campus-based staff in the district instructional vision. 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

  • Collaborate with school leaders to build core content area knowledge across grade levels
  • Partner with Principals to identify professional development opportunities needed to better implement curriculum in the classroom. 
  • Provide coaching to teachers as a part of professional development and promote teacher growth and familiarity with content area curriculum. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION

Texas Teacher certification. Bachelor's Degree. Master’s degree preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience.

SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION

Working knowledge of curriculum and content grade level resources.  
Experience in creating quality, grade-level curriculum to support teaching PK-12 Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. 

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

BUDGET AUTHORITY

No budget development activity is required.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Decisions are made with greater freedom and discretion, including recommendations that are subject to approval on matters that may affect multiple departments across HISD. Job is frequently expected to recommend new solutions to problems, to improve existing methods/procedures/services and generate new ideas.  May also review decisions made by other individuals on more routine matters.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS

Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS

Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS

Follows through with customer inquiries, requests, and complaints. Forwards difficult and non- routine inquiries or requests to appropriate level for resolution.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.
