JOB SUMMARY

The CTM for Academic Special Projects will provide project management support and leadership within the Office of Academics and across other departments within HISD in order to facilitate the fulfillment of multiple metrics across strategic goals.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.        Facilitate the fulfillment of project specific goals and metrics through collaboration, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement.
2.        Support the Office of Academics Strategic plan by developing and implementing clear communication strategies that support systemic change.
3.        Identify and implement necessary functions to ensure project completion in accordance with district and department goals.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

4.        Design and deliver necessary training to ensure projects are fully implemented.
5.        Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

1-3 years’ experience as a school or district administrator in a leadership capacity required.

Microsoft Office

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is non-standardized and widely varied, involving many complex and significant variables including significant time spent planning, evaluating complex solutions and issues, and negotiating outcomes. Strong analytic ability and inductive thinking are frequently required to devise new approaches to situations where previously accepted solutions have proven inadequate. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the division. Supervision received typically consists of providing periodic coaching, advice, and feedback.

BUDGET AUTHORITY

No budget development activity is required.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS

Decisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS

Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve problems, clarify, or interpret complex information/policies and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS

Regularly assesses and diffuses complex, and escalated customer issues. Takes personal responsibility and accountability for solving systemic customer service problems. Regularly explores alternative and creative solutions to meeting the needs of the customer within HISD's policies and guidelines.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. 
Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Visual Requirement: able to see and read computer screens, detect color coding, etc.
Hearing Requirement: able to detect specific noises, proper equipment operation.
