JOB SUMMARY
The Cross-Functional Team Member, Data Governance & Quality Assurance is a key contributor to the district-wide effort to enhance the integrity, reliability, and strategic use of data. Working as part of a diverse team drawn from various functional areas, this role focuses on implementing data governance policies, ensuring data quality standards, and supporting data stewardship across the organization. The team member will collaborate to streamline data-related processes, promote best practices, and help ensure that data is accurate, accessible, and effectively used to support decision-making.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Contribute problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to help address challenges and obstacles that may arise during projects, actively participating in finding effective solutions.
2. Support the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure consistent and ethical data use across the organization.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and implement business rules and data governance documentation.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and resolve data quality issues, monitor key data sets, and promote data accuracy and consistency.
5. Participate in the review and maintenance of data dictionaries, metadata, and data lineage documentation to ensure shared understanding and alignment across departments.
6. Provide subject matter expertise related to data quality assurance, including validation of business rules, data profiling, and cleansing techniques.
7. Help define and track data quality metrics and key performance indicators to assess and improve data reliability and completeness.
8. Work closely with data owners and stewards to ensure compliance with data governance policies and standards.
9. Proactively identify areas for improving data-related processes and systems, contributing to initiatives that enhance data usability and trustworthiness.
10. Contribute to the development and delivery of training and resources to build capacity around data governance and quality practices across departments.

11. Ensure effective and transparent communication among team members regarding data issues, updates, and resolution efforts.
12. Remain informed of emerging best practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements related to data governance, security, and quality management.
13. Document data quality and governance workflows, issues, and resolutions to support ongoing learning and improvement.
14. Collaborate on cross-departmental data initiatives and projects to ensure alignment with governance frameworks and strategic data objectives.
15. Collaborate effectively with team members from various functional areas, bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise to solve complex problems and drive project success.
16. Embrace change and adapt to evolving project requirements, adjusting priorities and approaches as needed to ensure successful project outcomes.
17. Continuously expand knowledge and understanding of other functional areas within the organization, fostering cross-functional learning and collaboration.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (depending on the specific requirements of the cross-functional team)
WORK EXPERIENCE
4 years experience in data analysis, data governance, and project management in a K-12 educational setting, or similar organization.
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse functional backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear and concise information sharing.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with a logical and analytical mindset to address complex challenges.

Proficiency in relevant software and tools used by the cross-functional team.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing typically involves monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT
Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.
BUDGET AUTHORITY
No budget development activity is required.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.
IMPACT OF DECISIONS
Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS
Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.
