JOB SUMMARY
Applicants must have LAT certification (Licensed Athletic Trainer) to apply for this position.
Under general supervision, provides injury prevention techniques, medical treatment, physical rehabilitation, non-emergency care, and emergency care to the injured athletes in secondary schools.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends athletic events to provide emergency care to injured athletes in order to stabilize injuries, to minimize pain and/or reduce the possibility of death.
- Evaluates and refers non-emergency athletic injuries to a medical facility and/or administers treatment and rehabilitation program.
- Tapes, selects, designs, and fits special protective equipment for injured athletes. Assists in the inspection and fitting of football helmets and shoulder pads.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
4. Maintains emergency medical equipment, manages athletic training room, inventories, and distributes medical supplies.
5. Procures and files required athletic forms, athletic injury reports, and medical reports.
6. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT
Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.

No budget development activity is required.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noise, chemicals, etc.
Ability to carry and/or lift 45 pounds or more.
